hi community of awesome! i'm ava jae, and thisis bookishpixie. so writing, especially writing over a longperiod of time, can become pretty stressful. most writers are not in a position where theycan write full time, which means they have to juggle their writing with other life responsibilities. this means that a lot of free time that wouldusually be spent relaxing tends to be spent writing. whether it's another full-time job, or a bunchof part-time jobs, school, family, or a combination thereof, writers are busy people. and i'm not saying that using the time thatother people would use to relax for writing

is a bad thing because that's how writersget things done. but if you're not careful, you can very easilyburn yourself out. confession: i don't write every day. at least, not in the sense of writing fora book every day. i am what i like to call a binge writer, inthat when i'm working on a project, whether it's first drafting or revising, i will workon it every single day and put in all the free hours that i have until that projectis done. but when i'm done, i take a break. the break, for me, is important because ifi were to do one work binge after another

without stopping, i would burn out. and trust me, the last thing you want to dois work yourself into the ground. my breaks can last anywhere from a coupledays to a couple weeks to even over a month. during that break i will not think about theproject i was working on and i will try not to think about future projects, i just readand catch up on my netflix queue, and hulu, and play assassin's creed and civilization,and...relax. because the truth is if you don't take careof yourself, then your writing is going to suffer. you have to figure out a work and relax balancethat works for you. maybe that will mean binging on work likeme and taking a long break.

or maybe that will mean spreading out yourwork more gradually and taking breaks throughout. there isn't really a right or wrong way todo this, as long as you continue progressing forward while also giving yourself some timeto recover. because the last thing you want to do is writeuntil you dread writing, or on the flip side, put off your work for so long that you'renot making any progress at all. just remember your writing is important, butso are you. and if you prioritize writing over your mental, and emotional, and physical health, ultimately both you and your writing are going to suffer. so write because writing is awesome, but rememberto take a break, too.

so that's all i've got for today! if you likedwhat you saw, don't forget to subscribe and comment, and i'll see you guys next week!
